Life Lessons
Eli has failed his test. With just one test major problems occur for Eli. With ever problem a person make a decision. Eli is torn between telling the truth about his test or lying. What will his decision be? “The Lie” by Kurt Vonnegut Jr., is a comedy story about a boy who tells a lesson that not matter what problem you end up being stuck in you should never lie. In other words, how the author relates this story to real life.
Vonnegut illustrates irony through the interactions of the character. As how he illustrates irony of the characters to how the story relate to the plot line comedy. Comedy is a plot line that will start out with everyday life, then a problem occurs along the way. Later on, the problem get realized , then resolved. When Kurt Vonnegut wrote the short story, he wrote it has how the comedy cycle works. Even though the story is a comedy, Kurt Vonnegut, wrote as a comedy to reflect on a lesson that lying is never the answer even if it’s in a stick situation
In addition, the lie is a comedy, but it shows a lesson to the readers how about you should never lie, and it shows for how lying ca affect you. People always have probably lied about something about there life’s or problems they had. Usually it’s about work, school, friends, and all kind of other things. Kids lie about doing chores or saying they got an A on test like Eli lied about his test. When people or kids do that because, they didn’t want to disappoint their parents but they do that just by not failing the test, by trying to get out of it with a lie. Lying is never a answer the anything know matter what the situation is or problem you have. Kurt Vonnegut wrote the story to show a lesson to the readers but also how it relate to real life if it would happen to you.                                                                                                                                                       With every book or mysteries each one has a purpose why the author wrote it. For example, commercials they have a purpose to try to per sway people to buy something they are trying to sell. “The Lie”, purpose was to show kids what lying can lead to. Vonnegut wrote this kind of story to show a purpose to people that lying just leads to more trouble than you are already in.
